‘Green’ Auxiliary parking lot at Phipps Conservatory uses recycled plastic materials designed by Alcoa Geosystems that allow grass to keep growing, even as vehicles park on top of it. Though the lot will be permanent, Phipps plans to use it for overflow parking. Lines will not be painted on the grass. The hope is that when there are no cars parked, the entrance area will still appear to be a sloping grassy hill.
What do you think about this design as an urban ‘green’ alternative?
