Author Promotes a Year of Home-Grown Eating

vegtannualBarbara Kingsolver, author of the Poisonwood Bible, and her family, have vowed to buy only foods raised in their neighborhoods or grow it themselves for one year. Why? As a nation, we are now putting almost as many fossil fuels into our refrigerators as in our cars. Every item on the average American plate has traveled 1,500 miles!  See the graphic of Barbara’s vegetannual – a term invented to describe what veggies and fruits are in season.  What do you think?  Can you do this for one year?  One month?  One week?
