Scientists Learn from Sea Urchin’s Eversharp Teeth

Most sea urchins feed scraping undersea rocks. Despite this constant grinding, their teeth never ever get dull. Their teeth both constantly grow AND cleave (or break off) at tiny, tiny nanoindentations in their mosaic structure. This process perpetually renews their cutting edge! (link to article)
