Clean drinking water is a major problem in many parts of the world. Many aid organizations advocate solar water disinfection (also known as SODIS) – leaving plastic water bottles out in the sun to kill off harmful bacteria. The only problem with SODIS is ‘how long to leave the bottles in the sun?’ – before it has been fully sanitized by heat and UV-A radiation.
With the help of grants from the Rockefellor Foundation, these (pictured) young engineers hope to develop a full prototype and to start their own non-profit organization!
What world problem would you like solved? …How would you like to solve it?
